Rethinking the Eiffel Tower
Our first student project in partnership with DASSAULT System was to rethink the Eiffel Tower and imagine a new symbol it could represent nowadays. At the end of the 19th century it was a symbol of the Industrial Revolution, showing off the abilities of the engineers and the workforce to master metal. Mankind kept evolving and with it its knowledge of the environment. The aim of the new symbol we wanted to show through this project was the human capacity to recreate environments while providing enough energy to maintain it in a complete opposite environment.
Reversing the Eiffel Tower and following its direction through earth would make it point to the Pacific Ocean. The project would then focus on bringing the Pacific to Paris. A massive shopping center, numerous apartments, restaurants, operas, theaters and research laboratories would be built around this huge aquarium filled with a flora and fauna from lagoons of New Caledonia. Water would be powerfully filtered and salted from the Seine which would also be powering enough energy to sustain this exotic environment using underwater mills.
